Hi there. Thanks for stopping by my corner of the internet. My name is Victoria VanBruinisse, and I do a little bit of everything.
For the most part, I'm a Seattle-based writer and photographer, as well as a Contributing Editor for Three Imaginary Girls. I also drive a desk at a non-profit, build blogs, and volunteer when I can at KEXP.
Lately, I've been serving as Gal Friday for Greg Vandy's American Standard Time, and just had the privilege of editing / helping to birth an amazing project with one of the most talented humans I know.
This is a thing I like:
After tiptoeing through taut opener “A Caution to the Birds,”, I got a taste of singer/guitarist Glen Hansard’s winning charm as he prefaced one of the best songs from their new album ("Keepsake") by explaining that the song is about walking out of your house in the morning, picking up the morning paper, taking a book of matches, lighting the paper on fire, throwing it into your house, closing the door, locking the door, breaking the key off in the lock, and giving the broken key to the first girl you see.
I want to live inside that quote forever. Should I manage to produce art someday that's even half as convincing as that description, I'll know I did something meaningful with my life.
If you're looking to get in touch about any of those things, or just want to say hello, please do.
